Dwayne D. called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at the GUC and via Zoom hybrid.

Financial Report:

MOTION by Larry C. to adopt financial report, seconded Wayne B., carried.

Correspondence: Kitscoty high school reached out regarding scholarship program. Dwayne gave them Bill’s contact information.

Old Business:

  1. Dwayne D and Mike H. sent out a copy of the range orientation. Will try to meet up in April.
  2. Bylaws update – Carlo is working on it.
  3. Dwayne D. would like to host a GPS Course.
  4. Golf Cart Raffle – License for the raffle has been issued, but insurance is still required. Dwayne will work on this as we do not own the cart.
  5. LDFGA Credit Card is being processed. Expected to arrive in the mail soon. Larry Chambers and Dwayne Davison will have their names on the card.
  6. Youth council sub-committee. Should we pursue this idea? Tabled for this meeting.
  7. Social media marketing. Any ideas for advertising events or membership purchases, let Carlo M. or Marissa M. know.

New Business:

  1. LPSD inquired about doing some activities at our Youth Centre. Clint Chocan called and asked about availability for the week of April 14th to 18th. Clint is to provide info for what activities they would like to do.
  2. Alta Zone 5 Spring Meeting in Vegreville at 10:00am on March 29th. Dwayne D. will be attending.
  3. NLCC AGM is Saturday April 5th if anyone can attend. No one will be attending.
  4. Ian P. did not attend Manitou Sandhills Meeting as it was cancelled. He discussed a few reasons this may have happened.
  5. Darrell P. attended the Integrated Resource Management Sandhills meeting February 26th and gave a review on who attends and topics discussed.
  6. Discussion of creating a subcommittee consisting of a youth council. Will discuss more at another meeting.
  7. Social Media Advertising – Should we utilize members of the LDFGA that are not on the executive board to increase our social media reach? Dwayne will reach out to Ashley Miazga and report back.
  8. SWF Region 2 Spring meeting date not announced yet. Dwayne D. asked for anyone interested in attending, to let him know right away.

FundraisingNR.

Youth Outdoor Activity Day Poster needs to be updated with this year’s details. Bill would like to start advertising in April and Grindin Gears will take the applications again. Website needs to have more pictures of all the activities involved.

Conservation CampThere have been seven inquiries, but no applications received. We may need to extend the deadline for applications. Pam Russell is still looking for a camper to use in July.

ScholarshipsBill A. has been contacted to attend a scholarship promotion event in Kitscoty.

MerchandiseNR

Habitat/Gordon Leslie Project/Trout Ponds/Foster Property Windmill is running well. Dwayne reported on readings from using the dissolved oxygen meter. The McDougall Pond averaged 2.0 mg/L and the West Pond was 1.5 mg/L. Some research showed that a minimum for fish to survive it should be 2.50 mg/L or higher. We will plan to treat the water earlier this year.

TrophiesTo try and encourage members to purchase a membership prior to deadlines to be eligible for trophies we could create a LDFGA Facebook group to increase the reach to our followers.

Gun and Outdoor Sportsman Show – NR.

Archery Club / Youth Center Regular shoot night are Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00-9:00pm.

Banquet Banquet wind up meeting will be Sunday March 30 at Dwayne’s house at 7:00pm.

Fish Fry – Coming up Thursday April 17. Plans being made to use the trailer to ease the overall work involved for this event. Joe M. noted that we could use his trailer to haul the fryers etc. If you would like to help with this event, please contact Bill, he needs a couple more people.

Indoor Range Rimfire evenings are still running well. More awareness will bring more new attendees.

Outdoor Range The CFO has talked with Reid B., they will perform an inspection when the ground is dry. They will require a copy of the insurance and a letter from the RM of Britannia acknowledging the ranges. There are a couple of target supports that require maintenance and one was recently repaired.
