Minutes: Presented minutes from GUC/Zoom hybrid meeting August 25, 2026.
MOTION by Garry C., to adopt the minutes from August 25, 2026, seconded by Jackie F., carried.
Financial Report:
MOTION by Larry C. to adopt financial report, seconded Daniel A., carried.
Correspondence: None.
Old Business:
1. Dwayne D. sent draft copy of Range Orientation built with Mike H. Add in a waiver section as advised by our
insurance agent.
2. Bylaws update – Dwayne D. contacted the AWF CEO, and we will need to change our operating name in the
bylaws and get approval of the by-laws.
3. AWF Golf Tournament was August 27 in Acheson. They had 48 golfers registered with more membership
participation this year than last year.
4. Discussion of a “Show & Tell” style event at the Youth Centre. This would be a display only event and would be
ideal to host in the spring. Displays could be items for hunting, trapping, fishing, taxidermy etc. Any member
could have a table, but the event would be open to the public and free to attend. Committee members Tyler W.,
Garry C., Janelle M., and Dwayne D. will have a meeting Thursday October 22, 7:30pm at Dwayne’s house.
5. Discussion on having provincial and branch awards for wildlife and fish categories. We would have to run two
systems to track entries and could possibly attract more youth. It needs to be done in a way it won’t take away
from the adult entries. No decision made for or against this idea.
6. Discussion of repairing/replacing bathrooms at the McDougall Pond. The tank below is concrete. We will try to lift
the building to inspect if the tank is sitting level and the integrity of the base of bathroom structure. Larry will
order the tank to be pumped out and contact the Lloyd Comp to build a new building.
7. LDFGA Clothing – Fiona M. provided a quote on shirts, hats and sweaters from Ram Printing & Promotions. We
should have an item of clothing such as a polo shirt that all board members have to identify us at our events.
2027 will be the 100-year anniversary of the organization which we can use for promotion and add onto the
clothing as well. Stickers were suggested as a well-liked item of all ages. Marketing committee members are
Jackie F., Fiona McRae, Carlo M., Bill A., Marissa M., and Dwayne D., who will have a meeting to discuss ideas.
Bills to be Paid:
MOTION by Joe M., to pay bills, seconded by Daniel A., motion carried.
New Business:
1. Prairie Spaniel Dog Competition Oct 6-8th. We have been offered the pheasants from this event if we would like
to pick them up. Joe M, Carlo M, and Dwayne D. volunteered to clean the birds.
2. There were issues with the radio transmitters at the Youth Centre causing the internet not to work previously. It
was discovered that the problem was the power block for the radio transmitter at the Indoor Range. Water got
in the cable to the connection to the power block and corroded the connector. This was caused by a cut in the
cable and possibly from the piece of flashing that came off the front of the building. The internet is working but
the flashing needs to be replaced. Dwayne D. will look after that.
3. Carlo M will survey in the remainder of the fence on the Outdoor Range. The fencing crew is estimating the
fencing to be completed mid November.
4. Discussion of non members attending meetings. There are not currently any restrictions in the bylaws about non
members attending meetings. A clause will be added into the current bylaws stating any non member that
would like to attend a meeting can only do so by invitation of the LDFGA BOD.
5. Discuss Alberta Federation of Shooting Spots (AFSS) Shooting League. An email was sent to the admin email with
information on guidelines for Establishing League Shooting Programs and guidelines for Implementing an
Authorized Lending Program. The email will be shared with board members.
6. Discuss CCFR contacting clubs to provide range insurance.
7. SWF Region 2 Fall Meeting will be held virtually on Oct. 21. Dwayne D., Larry C., and Garry C., will attend.

the equipment for the program. Larry will look for possible used equipment that can be supplied to the Lashburn
School. Larry made the motion to provide $1800.00 to the Lashburn School, providing that we cannot locate a
possible third set of FINS equipment in the Lloydminster area or any other used FINS equipment. Seconded by
Daniel A. Carried.
10. Discussed Sydni Keichinger’s experience at the World Outdoor Target Shooting Competition That was recently
held in South Dakota. Sydni placed 12th in her category in some pretty wet situations. She was also the top
Canadian Competitor and was selected to carry the Canadian Flag in the closing ceremonies. Congratulations to
Sydni.
Committee Reports:
Memberships – 1029 LDFGA, 485 Outdoor, 162 Indoor. Discussion of promoting by sponsoring other events or groups
