Lloydminster & District Fish & Game Association – Minutes of Meeting – August 27, 2024
Dwayne D. called the meeting to order at 7:35pm at the Youth Centre and via Zoom hybrid.
Minutes: Presented minutes from GUC/Zoom hybrid meeting June 25, 2024.
MOTION by Garry C. to adopt the minutes as presented, seconded by Larry C., to adopt minutes from June 25, 2024, meeting, as presented, carried.
Financial Report:
MOTION by Larry C. to adopt financial report, seconded by Keith B., carried.
Correspondence: Larry C. received a letter from Excel Insurance announcing they are now Westland Insurance Group.
Committee Reports:
Memberships – 1233 LDFGA, 580 Outdoor, 203 Indoor. Dwayne D. would like to ask Grindin’ Gears to sell memberships for the LDFGA as Wildside Outdoors has closed.
Fundraising – NR.
Youth Outdoor Activity Day – MOTION by Keith B., to purchase nine dozen compasses for next year’s Youth Outdoor Activity Day, seconded by Larry C., motion carried.
Indoor Range – Water well needs to be shocked to prevent taps from getting plugged up. Garry C. will look after arranging this.
Outdoor Range –We are still waiting to hear back from the CFO to set up a date to have the range recertified. The grass needs to be whipper snipped again; it was recently cut with the mower. Memorial plaques need to be installed for four life members that have passed away in the past few years. Project Mapleseed will be happening Aug. 31, the range will be closed to those not participating in the event. Keith B. suggested adding a windbreak to the chain-link fence and a clean up of garbage from rebuilding the target supports needs to be done.
Conservation Camp – The campers we sent to camp NLCC in Alberta this year were Carson Rokosh and Zayne Yushchshyn. The Saskatchewan SWF Camp in Candle Lake was attended by Phoenix Sellers, Ella Garret, and Victoria Grisdale. Carson received the “Golden Tent Peg Award” during his stay and will be rewarded with an invitation to next years advanced camp.
Scholarships – No scholarship entries have been received but we had Courtney with SWF make a poster to create awareness of the program.
Merchandise – NR
Habitat/Gordon Leslie Project/Trout Ponds/Foster Property –Garry C has not heard back from the County of Vermilion regarding a possible grant. Dwayne worked with Thomas from Hobblestone to make floats for the eagle statues for MacDougall Pond which will be installed in the spring. Garry C. spoke to a fisherman who has been catching fish in the West pond. Perry St.Denis has offered to build a new bench for the MacDougall Pond.
Trophies – Ian Peters has passed his Boone & Crockett course; Dwayne D. will need to send a letter to Henry Kelsey.
Gun and Outdoor Sportsman Show –Janelle set Sept. 10 meeting to kick off planning for the 2025 Gun Show.
Archery Club / Youth Center – Indoor archery is running again on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00PM.
Banquet – Banquet meeting set for Tuesday Oct. 8, 7:00PM at Dwayne’s House.
Fish Fry – Next year’s fish fry will be Thursday April 17, 2025. Garry will reach out to fish supplier in November.
Gun Range Event Committee – Project Mapleseed event will be held August 31; the Outdoor Range will be closed to those not participating in the event.

Old Business:
- Dwayne D and Mike H. sent out a copy of the range orientation. No Update.
- Set up a raffle with a $600 fishing package, as per Keith’s motion. Need to purchase prize items
- We are still selling tickets for the LNCC. Aim to have them sold as soon as possible. Draw Dec. 1, 2024.
- Bylaws update – Carlo is working on this and plans to meet with Larry to discuss. He is also working on the website, any changes or suggestions can be screenshot and sent to Carlo.
- Knife Line Draw #1 winner was Marty Fowler. Knife Line Draw #2 winner was Leslie Harper.
- Website updating – New executive photo needed, new AWF Logo, add meeting minutes and update photos from Gun Show, Banquet, Conventions, and photo contest. New information for Archery Club, Outdoor Range and Women’s camps. Remove Covid info from website. Update Youth Camps, community support, trout ponds, remove micro pond. Remove Hide Program. Change archery contact to David Charbonneau, 306-307-3349, decharbonn@icloud.com.
- Dwayne D. would like to host a GPS Course.
New Business:
- SWF Region 2 meeting will be on Saturday October 26. This meeting will be in person and virtual. No date for Alberta yet.
- Cenovus has contacted SWF and would like to build a two well pad on the Burt Smith property.
