Minutes: Presented minutes from GUC/Zoom hybrid meeting November 25, 2025.

Financial Report:

MOTION by Larry C. to adopt financial report, seconded Daniel A., carried.

Correspondence: Hawkline Brass sent an e-mail to Dwayne D with the brass that he picked up at the two ranges a couple of months ago. Joe M received a receipt for the payment made on the golf car from FTR and will send to Larry and Dwayne.

Old Business:

  1. Dwayne D sent out draft copy of Range Orientation built with Mike H prior to Nov. 25th Comments back from executive board.
  2. Bylaws update – Carlo worked on it through December and will work to get it finished up.
  3. Dwayne D. would like to host a GPS Course.
  4. Golf Car Raffle – We will have the golf car at the gun show and sell tickets at the membership table. 7 books are not in circulation yet.
  5. First Aid Kits are at the Indoor Range. Keith is building a cabinet for the first aid kit for the outdoor range.
  6. Camp Hoo-Ha update. Janelle will host an indoor range event for Camp Hoo-Ha which is a women’s empowerment group to learn new skills and have fun. It will be on Saturday Feb. 7, 3:00 – 5:00pm with Janelle, Keith, Fiona and Marissa. Keith may bring a few extras to help with the event. 32 participants maximum attendance.

New Business:

  1. Sask. Govt Extended Cow Elk Hunt Discussion – Dwayne D attended the recent WAC meeting and briefly shared how they were not impressed how the hunt was handled.
  2. Youth Centre Kiosk Drop Off for CWD testing – still heads coming in and will close on January 20th.
  3. Convention is Feb. 13 & 14th, Dwayne and Larry will be attending. Dwayne will be attending Alberta Convention the following weekend. If you would like to go to either meeting, please let Dwayne know.

Committee Reports:

Memberships 554 LDFGA, 236 Outdoor, 107 Indoor. Dwayne D and Marissa M will get together to work on a schedule to send out reminders. Keith B noted that our indoor memberships were down this year but our revenue from the budget is higher. Could this be from more 3-year memberships purchased this year than last year?

Fundraising – NR

Youth Outdoor Activity Day This year’s event will be June 20 & 21, 2026. Bill A. will be ordering more compasses for next years event. Carlo will create updated posters for this event. The new pellet guns have been purchased and are in the indoor range. Discussion on what to do with the old ones; can we donate to another organization (church camps, Moose Lodge, etc.)? Keith will check over the rifles to check the functional state of them.

ScholarshipsBill A. inquired on who takes care of getting the plaques ready for the banquet for the scholarship.

MerchandiseNR

Habitat/Gordon Leslie Project/Trout Ponds/Foster PropertyStewardship for the Gordon Leslie area is open if anyone is interested. Darrell P and Dwayne D. will look into more water testing at McDougall Pond. The aeration unit is working good now. Dwayne D found a donor, local farmer, who will donate barely straw bales to use in McDougall Pond to attempt to reduce algae. We will need to set it up to be pulled out of the pond by wrapping a net around it and a cable back to shore.

Trophies – Sherry L and Ian P. have had some whitetail deer and moose entries along with a few fish and birds. The list will go to Trophy Gallery soon. The number of entries is up compared to recent years.

Gun and Outdoor Sportsman Show –Our upcoming gun show dates are January 17th & 18th 2026. Tables are sold out; seven vendors are owing payment and will most likely pay at the show. Janelle has volunteers signed up from LAA and the high school stewardship program. Dwayne will get the membership/entrance schedule from Garry to get those volunteers lined up. Reid B. will handle setting up the signs the Monday before the show. Dwayne has the CATF magazines. We will have a line draw for the youth bow that was donated to sell at the gun show and the banquet.

Archery Club / Youth Center Regular open archery nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. JOP program is now in progress.

Banquet Banquet will be January 31st, 2026. Tickets are available from Dwayne and at Grindin Gears. Darrell, Larry, Jackie, Daniel, Ian, Tyler, Carlo, and Keith volunteered for Friday night prep. Tyler’s wife Erica will help with heads and tails. Dwayne will ask Terence to help cook fish. Jackie, Sherry, Darrell, Dwayne, and Logan will help with set up Saturday at 1:00pm. Brian and Marissa will do tickets at the front door. An email will be sent to the membership asking for help with the raffle tables. An email will be sent to request roast donations for making jerky.

Fish Fry – This year’s event will be Thursday April 23, 2026.

Indoor Range A group of ladies by the name of “Camp Hoo-Ha” contacted Janelle and would like to host an event at the indoor range in February. There have been a few openings recently by RSO’s. There have been some issues with a furnace, Dwayne has been working on arranging repairs. Thanks to Klean-Rite Dry Cleaners for helping us with security key for many years.

Outdoor RangeNo report back from CFO inspection. Signs need to be put up with land coordinates. Dwayne has found more reports within the fob system which we can utilize going forward to mitigate any issue going forward. We were able to reconcile 8 of these fobs that were not assigned by going through memberships. The coyote target has fallen and need to be rebuilt in the spring.
