Hello Everyone
See the attached Lakeland Today Article “Winter Fish Kill Vincent Lake Confirmed” from May 12, 2020: https://www.lakelandtoday.ca/local-news/winter-fish-kill-confirmed-at-vincent-lake-2337357. Disappointing to see thousands of dead perch and pike in a 760ha lake that numerous people were fishing. The attached said article describes the confirmation of another fish winterkill at Vincent Lake.
Our Next Step Team has been suggesting that more fish habitat should be maintained, restored and developed to increase fishing opportunities for Albertans. Further we have suggested that lakes such as Vincent, that winterkill periodically, should be managed with less restrictive fishing regulations that would allow for the harvesting of the fish prior to such winterkills.
We are asking the fish managers to implement fish habitat restoration, fish stocking, fish transplanting and less restrictive fish harvesting in the waters similar to Vincent Lake.
