The Lloydminster & District Fish & Game Executive are happy to announce we now have an IPSC shooting component to the new Pistol Bay at the Outdoor Range. We need to be very clear that to be involved in IPSC shooting that, you do require the proper training and qualifications to do this type of shooting. There are details below, as to what is required to get your Black Badge. The Black Badge course is a requirement to shoot IPSC.
- You must pass the BB course before getting a membership in IPSC Alberta (or Sask)
- You must be a member in IPSC to register for a match.
- You must shoot a match within 1 year of the BB course.
- You must shoot at least one match per year and pay your annual IPSC membership ($70/year) to remain in good standing.
- If you miss the annual match but are within a couple years, you can bere-certifiedby an instructor (do NOT have to take the full course)
- If it’s been more than a couple years since the course or last match, the provincial director will most likely require you to take the full BB course again
I’ll paraphrase the instructor’s expression… even though we do this for fun, we do it with real guns and real bullets and there is no leeway for people who have been away for an extended period of time. Safety is the #1 priority.
Hope this helps clarify things and helps people make a more informed decision. ( Dwayne Keichinger)
The LDFGA will be hosting a Black Badge Course on the weekend of July 13/14 2019. This may be the only opportunity this year for us to host this course, so if you are interested, please contact Dwayne Keichinger at the following e-mail address, dkeichinger@shaw.ca or text to 780-872-3418. This is a very demanding course and expectations are high in the proper handling of your pistol at all times. Courses like these can only enhance your shooting experience and the more people with this type of experience, the safer it is for everyone.
The LDFGA has voted to modify the “No Holstering” policy at our Outdoor and Indoor Ranges, to allow those members with Black Badge training and have demonstrated to a club official, that they are holstering and handling their pistol properly, be allowed to holster pistols at our ranges, during IPSC practicing or at an IPSC Hosted Event .
PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A VALID “BLACK BADGE”, AND THEY HOLSTER AT OUR RANGES, THEY WILL BE SUBJECT TO A POSSIBLE SUSPENSION OR REVOKING OF THEIR RANGE PRIVILEGES. ALSO, THE ONLY PLACE WHERE YOU CAN SHOOT A PISTOL AT THE OUTDOOR RANGE, IS IN THE NEW PISTOL BAY. THE REST OF THE OUTDOOR RANGE IS FOR RIFLE / MUZZLE LOADER ONLY.
JUST A REMINDER, THERE IS NO SHOTGUN SHOOTING AT OUR OUTDOOR RANGE. OUR RANGE IS NOT CERTIFIED FOR SHOTGUNS.
Safety must be the most important thing we do as an Executive and members. Please obey all range rules, so we can continue to provide these facilities to all our members. Come out and volunteer for some of the work bees on various projects we have ongoing. You can go on the LDFGA website for further info on what we are up to. Thank you in advance.
