Lloydminster & District Fish & Game Association – Minutes of Meeting – August 25, 2026
Dwayne D. called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm at the GUC and via Zoom hybrid.
Minutes: Presented minutes from GUC/Zoom hybrid meeting June 23, 2026.
MOTION by Bill A., to adopt the minutes from June 23, 2026, seconded by Daniel A., carried.
Financial Report:
MOTION by Larry C. to adopt financial report, seconded Brian S., carried.
Correspondence: None.
Old Business:
1. Dwayne D. sent out draft copy of Range Orientation built with Mike H prior to Nov. 25th meeting. Add in a waiver
section as advised by our insurance agent.
2. Bylaws update – Dwayne D. contacted the AWF CEO, and we will need to change our operating name in the
bylaws and get approval of the by-laws.
3. AWF Golf Tournament is August 27 in Acheson. We will not be sending a team this year, but they have 48 golfers
registered.
4. The piles at the NLCC building have been reinforced but now they are fixing a waterline issue.
5. Discussion of a “Show & Tell” style event at the Youth Centre. This would be a display only event and would be
ideal to host in the spring. Displays could be items for hunting, trapping, fishing, taxidermy etc. Any member
could have a table, but the event would be open to the public and free to attend. Tyler W., Garry C., Janelle M.,
and Dwayne D. volunteered to form a committee to organize this event and will have a meeting in the fall.
Bills to be Paid:
MOTION by Daniel A., to pay bills, seconded by Brian S., motion carried.
New Business:
1. Provincial and branch wildlife awards; discussion about pros and cons. Will continue discussion at next meeting.
2. Should the bathrooms at McDougall Pond be repaired or replaced? Either way, the work may be hired out.
Dwayne D. will get some quotes to find out what it could cost.
Committee Reports:
Memberships – 994 LDFGA, 464 Outdoor, 162 Indoor.
Fundraising – NR
Youth Outdoor Activity Day – Next year’s date will be June 19, 2027.
Conservation Camp – No report back on the girls who attended the Alberta camp.
Scholarships – NR
Merchandise – NR
Habitat/Gordon Leslie Project/Trout Ponds/Foster Property –Dwayne D. and Darrell P. will look into more water testing at the McDougall Pond. Will try to get the DO meter back and take more readings. Discussion on using Alum to combat nutrient levels causing the excessive algae blooms; currently pricing is $1700 to $2500 for granular application not including freight. Still looking into other suppliers in Canada. The aeration unit was not pumping properly; it may need to be taken down again. Discussed lifting air stones to 8-10 ft level at the 25ft depth of the pond. Dwayne D. and Joe M. are working to complete this. If any one is interested in being the steward for the AWF/ACA Gordon Leslie Property at Marwayne please contact Dwayne.

Gun and Outdoor Sportsman Show – NR
Archery Club / Youth Center – Regular open archery nights at the Youth Center are now closed until the first week of October. Outdoor archery ranges are open 7 days a week to LAA members until later in the Fall.
Banquet – Will be hosting a meeting in October for the 2027 banquet. We need someone to take over the raffle and
silent auction part of the banquet.
Fish Fry – Next event Thursday April 22, 2027.
Indoor Range – Propane tank has been changed out. Larry C. talked to Cent-Alta Masonry and got an estimate on fixing the gate post, and repairs to the exterior of the Indoor Range. Is there another place that we should get a quote from for cement work?
Outdoor Range – No report back from CFO inspection. Signs need to be put up with land coordinates etc. The weeds behind the benches are not being maintained in a timely manner. MOTION by Dwayne D., to get a quote from a contractor and report back for mechanical means to take care of weeds behind the bench, seconded by Scott N., motion carried.
