Youth Outdoor Activity DayBill A. updated on the June 23, 2018 Youth Activity Day. Thank you to the volunteers who helped the day before and volunteered the day of the event. There were 50 kids that attended. The weather was great and everything ran smoothly. The media did not attend even though they had indicated they would. This is something that should be pushed for next year.

Indoor Range The Indoor Range certification has been extended to August 31, 2018. Dwayne D. mentioned possibly hosting another event at the range, perhaps in the fall.

Outdoor Range Dwayne D. updated on range certification which has been extended to August 31, 2018. Range Remodeling Proposal was accepted by the CFO and the LDFGA Special Membership Meeting passed the motion to proceed with the proposal. Work will commence as early as July 5, 2018, pending all equipment can be in place by then. The range will be shut down during this projected 9 day construction period. There will be a work bee at the range on Wed. June 27, 2018 at 6:30pm to take down the chain link and barbed wire fences, so as to get ready for construction. We will also be picking rocks in the area of the 25 yd. target so that it can be mowed. Dwayne D. discussed the issues with the Kantech system.

Trout Ponds On June 15th 2018, executive members Larry C., Bill A. and Ian P. accompanied Mr. Shaun Donald and his students from E. S. Laird to release trout fingerlings.  The students hatched and raised the fingerlings from eggs provided by the Sask. Wildlife Federation “Fish in Schools” Program (FINS).  This project was locally sponsored by the Lloydminster & District Fish & Game Association.  The release was into the Jack McDougall Trout Pond which is owned by LDFGA.

Gun and Outdoor Sportsman ShowNR

Archery Club / Youth Center   Archery Programs are now complete and the Archery Club will be closed June 15-August 15, 2018.

MOTION by Curtis P. to purchase additional security equipment and power back up, with approximate cost of $1100, for the Youth Center/Archery Club, seconded by Brian H., carried. Motion tabled until the August 28, 2018 meeting.

Old Business:

  1. Panic doors need to be installed at the Indoor Range. Gary B. and Dwayne D. will do this.
  2. Andrew N. gave a quick update on Project Mapleseed. Date is Thursday August 16, 2018.
  3. Call of the Wild Trade/Gun Show has been cancelled. Discussion on whether or not to carry on with the Gun Show as an independent LDFGA event.

MOTION by Larry C. to cancel the Gun Show in August, seconded by Reid B., carried.

 

New Business:

  1. Gary B. discussed the upcoming 2020 Saskatchewan Summer Games to be held in Lloydminster.
  2. Dwayne D. updated on the SWF Golf Tournament that was held in Elbow, SK on June 19, 2018.
  3. Dwayne D. will be volunteering at the AFGA BOW camps in July. He will be instructing a Basic GPS course.
